TUTORIAL: How To Disable USB Port

Disable USB Port

When you do this, the USB storage device does not work when the user connects the device to the computer. However, both these approaches can prove to be counter-productives as your staff can no longer use USB keyboards, wireless mouse, digital cameras, camcorders, scanners, printers or even USB microphones to their computers. To set the Start value, follow these steps:

To disable the access to usb port in window xp, window 2000 following the step below

Click Start, and then click Run.

In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.

Locate and then click the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\UsbStor

In the details pane, double-click Start.

In the Value data box, type 4, click Hexadecimal (if it is not already selected), and then click OK.

Exit Registry Editor.
